The need for energy is increasing

Energy Facts

The world’s demand for energy has increased by more than 50 % from 1990 to 2011. Although the access and use of renewable energy in proportion have increased most in this period (in percentage), the energy supply is still dominated by non-renewable energy. Oil is the main energy carrier and covers about 33 % of the total demand, while various renewable sources now have reached about 9 %. Of these, water power is dominant with about 70 % of the renewable energy.
